| Yang Ho Cho, chairman and chief executive officer of Korean Air and Liu Shao Yong, chairman of China Southern Airlines at a signing ceremony between the SkyTeam alliance and China Southern on 28 June 2006 in Guangzhou, China. SkyTeam signed a Global Airline Alliance Adherence Agreement (GAAAA) with China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in the People's Republic of China, indicating that the Chinese carrier is on track for official alliance membership later next year. |

At an official ceremony in Moscow, SkyTeam representatives welcomed Aeroflot as the alliance's tenth member. SkyTeam is the first global airline alliance to include a Russian carrier. With the addition of Aeroflot, SkyTeam serves approximately 373 million passengers with nearly 15,000 daily departures to 728 global destinations in 149 countries.

SkyTeam's Governing Board and other executives celebrate the alliance's 5th anniversary following a meeting in Amsterdam on June 9. At a press briefing held in conjunction with the meeting, the executives announced the finalization of the SkyTeam Associate Program and named the first carriers selected to begin the joining process: Air Europa of Spain; Copa Airlines of Panama; Kenya Airways of Kenya; and Tarom of Romania.
