Best In Class - Three SkyTeam carriers, Aeromxico, Air France-KLM and CSA Czech airlines received distinguished honors from aviation trade publications last month. More than 60,000 readers voted for the best in business class and luxury travel categories as each took home a "best airline" award in recent surveys by
Global Traveler Magazine (GTM) and
Air Transport World (ATW) . Aeromxico was named "Best Airline to Mexico" and CSA Czech Airlines was awarded the title "Best Airline in Eastern Europe" by readers of GTM. The article appeared in the January 2005 issue of the magazine. In the same survey, readers also voted Seoul Incheon Airport, a SkyTeam hub, as the "Best Airport in the World."
In addition, Air France-KLM topped all lists at
Air Transport World, when it was named "Best Airline of the Year." This distinction honours both airlines for their recent merger, which has propelled them to the position of Europe's leading airline group. According to
Air Transport World, this operation will lead to the rationalization of the air transport sector, while enabling both airlines to offer customers substantial benefits. The award will be officially presented to Air France-KLM Chairman and CEO Jean-Cyril Spinetta, and to Vice-Chairman Leo van Wijk in Washington, D.C. on 22 February.
The top honors garnered by Aeromxico, Air France-KLM and CSA Czech Airlines are a reflection of passengers' recognition and satisfaction with the way SkyTeam is delivering the best service to travelers worldwide.
New Neighbor - Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, hub to SkyTeam's Continental Airlines, will accommodate more visitors from around the world as a result of its recently opened International Arrivals Building (IAB). The opening of the new IAB is a huge step for SkyTeam, as the facility now has twice its original passenger capacity and has more customs/immigrations stations (54) than any other U.S. airport terminal. The new IAB facility handles all international arrivals at IAH, including all Air France-KLM, Aeromxico and Continental international flights. The free TerminaLink people mover easily connects travelers to Northwest and Delta, the other SkyTeam carriers at IAH. The new facility reduces connection times and provides modern conveniences for the six million international passengers traveling through IAH.
