The Gateway City, Prague - The Czech Republic's entry into the European Union (EU) last month is projected to attract more travelers to the region. With a major hub at Prague's Ruzyne Airport, SkyTeam is in position to help facilitate this growth and offer passengers more flight options to Eastern and Southern Europe and beyond.
SkyTeam member CSA Czech Airlines, which calls Ruzyne Airport home, has already increased both the number of flights offered and added new destinations throughout the region. CSA Czech Airlines has strategic plans to double its fleet to 70 aircraft providing SkyTeam customers with access to more destinations in the future. In addition, Korean Air recently added three weekly non-stop flights between Prague and Seoul Incheon Airport offering greater access between Europe and Asia. The two member airlines plan to institute codeshare service later this year on the same route, which will increase travel options to the region.
Partners team up to make travel more efficient at Newark Liberty International Airport - SkyTeam member Delta Air Lines announced last week that it has been awarded a multi-year airport services contract at Newark Liberty Airport by SkyTeam partner Alitalia. Delta's Airport Customer Service division will provide integrated airport services, such as customer check-in, ramp handling and facility sharing to Alitalia. The partnership will benefit passengers by providing operating efficiencies and help to strengthen the relationship between the airlines. Delta plans to hire new employees in Newark to help handle the additional daily flights.
