Kenya Airways

  • Kenya Airways, the leading African airline flying to more African destinations than any other carrier, takes pride in being at the forefront of connecting Africa to the world and the World to Africa through its hub Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

In 1995, Kenya Airways entered into an alliance with Dutch carrier KLM with the European carrier owning 26.73% of Kenya Airways. The Kenyan airline’s ever-growing fleet comprises a mix of Boeing and Embraer jets. It plans to grow its fleet in line with its 10-Year Growth Strategy, increasing this to about 120 aircraft by 2021, and to expand its network to over 115 destinations during the same period.

In 2005, Kenya Airways became the first airline in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve the IOSA certification (IATA Operational Safety Audit), a rigorous safety standard. In 2010, the airline was again the first in Africa to achieve the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO). The on-board service is renowned and the lie-flat business class seat – Premier World – on the wide-body aircraft is consistently voted among the world’s top 10. Kenya Airways has consistently been voted amongst the best Airlines in Africa.
