The near century-old building that houses the National Gallery is often overlooked by residents and tourists making their rounds at Ratanakosin's (Bangkok's Old City) famous sights: the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the National Museum.
Though the gallery's permanent collection is unlikely to raise any eyebrows, it has hosted excellent, world-class art exhibits, such as the pre-millennium Cities on the Move exhibition, notable for its look at fast-growing Asian cities, including - of course - Bangkok itself.
