Planning

Climate

Brussels is warm during the summer (average high 73°F/23°C), with temperatures dropping to an average high of 57-66°F (14-19°C) in fall. Winters are mild, with temperatures in January rarely falling below 45°F (7°C). The heavy rainfall provides a perfect excuse to sample Belgian beer in one of the city's bars.

Voltage

230V AC, 50 Hz two-pin plugs are standard.

Time

GMT +1 hour in winter (GMT +2 hours in summer)

Money

The official currency is the Euro (€), which consists of 100 cents. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks or at bureaux de change (currency-exchange offices) at the main train stations (Gare du Nord, Gare Centrale and Gare du Midi). They offer better value than currency exchange at the airport. Most businesses accept major credit cards. ATMs can be found all over Brussels.
