See work by local artists, hear tango music, watch dancing displays and browse handicraft stalls on the weekends in La Boca's colourful street museum, Caminito. The colour is owed to Italian immigrants who used boat paint to brighten their neighbourhood.
The working class district of La Boca is the old port area on the edge of the river Riachuelo. In the 1900s it became home to many Italian immigrants, who built elevated housing blocks to protect themselves from the flooding. Caminito was officially declared a pedestrian museum in 1959.
