Gigs, skiffs, Chinese dragon boats, Hawaiian war canoes, Viking longboats, Irish curraghs, shallops, wherries, whalers and more provide a wonderful spectacle on the Thames at the annual Great River Race. The race roots out the UK's Traditional Boat Champion.

This year, for the first time ever, the race runs upstream from the Docklands Sailing Centre in a wide sweep through the centre of London along the River Thames to the usual starting point in Richmond, just below Ham House, about 3/4 of a mile upriver from Richmond bridge.
