The race roots out the UK's Traditional Boat Champion. The race goes from Richmond, just below Ham House, about 3/4 of a mile upriver from Richmond bridge, to Island Gardens, opposite Greenwich Pier, in a wide sweep through the centre of London along the River Thames, ending up at Island Gardens, directly opposite the Cutty Sark.
