The race roots out the UK's Traditional Boat Champion. This year, for the first time ever, the race runs upstream from the Docklands Sailing Centre in a wide sweep through the centre of London along the River Thames to the usual starting point in Richmond, just below Ham House, about 3/4 of a mile upriver from Richmond bridge.
