Which genius thought up the original wrist-watch sat-nav or the mechanical page turner? Find out at the British Library's Weird and Wonderful Inventions Display this autumn, where a collection of original and strange gadgets are on show.
Author of Eccentric Contraceptions and Ingenious Gadgets, Maurice Collins has lent over 50 wonderfully odd gadgets to the British Library from his own family collection.
Amongst the brilliant items are the automatic hair nose cutter (1920), the beer can hole maker (1940), the whisky bottle lock (invented in 1882 to prevent servants getting to the booze!) and the two-handled self-pouring teapot (1886).
