Please note: The Spit-Lit Festival is not taking place in 2008.London's Spitalfields Market lends its name to a festival celebrating women's writing at Toynbee Studios and other venues in the area. Coinciding with International Women's Week and in conjunction with East-London based Alternative Arts, Spit-Lit presents over 100 writers from across the globe.
An initiative from several local literary organisations, the festival aims to provide a forum for both lovers of literature and those seeking inspiration and assistance with their work. Each day is packed with events and aside from the readings, talks, exhibitions, book fairs, comedy and musical nights, workshops are held giving advice on how to get published and how to write for radio and television.
Whatever your tastes and ideas, Spit-Lit's packed programme spans the length and breadth of women's issues and features some of the world's top spokespeople in their respective fields of literature and television.
For full details of the festival programme, please visit the Alternative Arts website.
