For reliability and comfort, train is the best option. The speedy Malpensa
Express runs every 15 minutes from Terminal 1 to Cadorna Station in the centre
of Milan, which connects with the green and red lines on the Metro. A single ticket
costs €11 (€13.50 if bought on the train). Round-trip tickets at
€14.50 or six-trip tickets at €55 are also available.
Two bus services run between Terminals 1 and 2 and Milan's Stazione
Centrale. The Malpensa Shuttle leaves every 20 minutes between 6.20am
and 0.15am, and costs €6, while Malpensa Bus Express departs every
30 minutes between 6.35am and 11.35pm and costs €5.50. Both take around 50
minutes but can take longer in bad traffic and aren't advisable for
business travellers.
The A26 and A8 motorways connect the airport to central Milan. Car hire is available
from Terminal 1 on floor -1. The journey into the city should take around 50 minutes
but in rush hour it can take much longer. The A8 is a toll road costing
€1.20 a journey.
Taxi
Cabs are available at all times outside Terminals 1 and 2. The journey into central
Milan should take around 50 minutes but will take much longer when the traffic is
bad. A trip to Stazione Centrale should cost around €70. Tipping the
cab driver is not necessary.
