The Italian Grand Slam for gay and lesbian tennis enthusiasts is organised by ATOMO, the Association of Homosexual Tennis Players. It attracts around 150 players and all games are played on indoor red clay courts.
The tournament is open to men and women, who can compete in the following divisions: advanced tournament players; high intermediate tournament players; low intermediate and beginning tournament players; beginning players with little tournament experience.
Besides this tournament, ATOMO organises three more tournaments on different surfaces (red clay, hard surface and synthetic grass) every year.
