Toulouse

Overview

France's fourth-largest city is fondly known as La Ville Rose, thanks to its pink-tinged buildings. The “Pink City” is the gateway to the Pyrénées and the old capital of the Languedoc region. It boasts Gothic and baroque architecture and a historic Vieux Quartier (old city). A student town, Toulouse is forever looking forward. The city has a passion for space and space travel. It is the home of the National Center for Space Research and the futuristic entertainment venue Cité de l'Espace. Toulouse is also a high-tech center. The mammoth aircraft makers Airbus and Aerospatiale are based here.
