SkyTeam NewsFlash — July 2003

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance partnering Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air, sets itself apart from the competition with its constant commitment to customer service. SkyTeam NewsFlash, issued monthly, enables the alliance to keep key media fully up-to-date with its most recent developments. Please read on for this month's update of SkyTeam activities.

SkyTeam Members Work to Integrate Airport Customer Service Functions

Applying the "caring more about you" philosophy, the alliance's Airport Customer Service (ACS) group has worked over the past year to develop consistent quality standards for the in-airport SkyTeam customer experience.

These key initiatives were developed in response to issues identified in SkyTeam customer comment and satisfaction surveys conducted in-flight over the past two and a half years. Based on the feedback, the alliance is in the process of:

  • Implementing policies to minimize passenger inconvenience and achieve a common approach to improved passenger communication and re-routing during an irregular operation (IROPS) such as a weather-related delay or cancellation
  • Establishing measurement indicators for baggage handling in order to decrease the number of mishandled baggage incidents
  • Setting transoceanic goals for on-time performance at key SkyTeam hub airports, including Paris, Seoul, New York, Atlanta, Mexico City, Prague, Rome and Milan

The new joint standards further demonstrate the deep integration between SkyTeam member airlines and illustrate the alliance's commitment to making travel easier for passengers.

SkyTeam Members Korean Air and Alitalia Launch New Codeshare in Italy; Delta to codeshare on Aeromexico service

To offer passengers traveling between Korea and Italy additional travel options, Korean Air began codesharing with Alitalia on the carrier's Rome-Milan route late last month. Passengers traveling from Asia now have greater access to the economic, industrial and fashion center of Italy and Southern Europe.

With additional service to Milan via Rome for passengers departing from Incheon on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the new codeshare is part of an alliance-wide network coordination effort, ensuring ample service to the destinations passengers most want to go.

Delta Air Lines expanded its codeshare relationship with SkyTeam partner Aeromexico on July 7, 2003 by offering codeshare service from Ontario, Calif. to Los Cabos, Mexico, and from Las Vegas, N.V. to Monterrey, Mexico. Mexico continues to be one of Delta's most important and successful markets in Latin America. The new services will provide passengers with seamless and enhanced travel options to and from these popular destinations.
