SkyTeam NewsFlash, issued monthly, enables the alliance to keep key media fully up-to-date with its most recent developments. Please read on for this month's update of SkyTeam activities. China and Beyond Korean Air is offering more daily flights to China with its newly added Incheon-Shanghai route. The new service, introduced last month, benefits all passengers visiting China by providing increased access and more connections. U.S. business travelers in particular are expected to benefit from the new route since it will shorten their travel time. Shanghai, the biggest city in China, is becoming known as a major business and cultural center. With Incheon serving as SkyTeam's main Asian hub, passengers in the region will experience added convenience when traveling to China, the Oceanic regions and beyond. SkyTeam Members Partner in Sales Activities SkyTeam member airlines continue to seek opportunities to coordinate and pass on benefits gained through their partnerships to their customers. At the end of June, Korean Air signed an agreement with partner Delta Air Lines allowing Delta to negotiate sales on behalf of the carrier in the United States. This marks the first time Delta has taken on the responsibility to negotiate on behalf of another airline in support of the SkyTeam alliance. Due to antitrust immunity granted in 2002, Delta and Korean Air have been able to offer global customers coordinated travel options and more competitive fares on international flights. With this new agreement, the airlines are deepening this cooperation and developing even more synergies. Corporate customers will benefit from this unique approach since they can now work with a single supplier source for their domestic, transatlantic, Latin American and transpacific business travel requirements.
