SkyTeam Marks Major Milestones Toward A Centralized Organization

MOSCOW, June 26, 2009 – SkyTeam announced today significant milestones in the creation of a new centralized organization for the alliance. Since naming a managing director in April 2009, SkyTeam has recruited six executives from its partner airlines to serve on the core management team and secured a location in Amsterdam for the company headquarters. While a key function of the management team is to collaborate on alliance business, the dedicated SkyTeam staff is also responsible for helping to enhance existing benefits as well as develop new benefits for passengers.

SkyTeam Opens First Level of Co-Branded Lounge at London Heathrow

LONDON, June 1, 2009 – Today SkyTeam announced that the first level of its first ever co-branded alliance lounge in Terminal 4 at London Heathrow International Airport (LHR) opens on Thursday, June 4. The two-level lounge occupies more than 1,600 square meters and offers space for more than 300 passengers. Jointly designed by the nine member and associate airlines serving Heathrow, the lounge offers customers a superior airport experience that combines the comfort and convenience passengers have come to expect with luxurious amenities such as a wine bar, oxygen bar and full-body massage chairs.

Update on SkyTeam Mexico Service

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance partnering ten members – including Aeroflot, Aeroméxico, Air France, Alitalia, China Southern Airlines, Continental Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Korean Air – and three Associate carriers – Air Europa, Copa Airlines and Kenya Airways – sets itself apart by offering an exclusive experience for all passengers.

As has been shared previously, SkyTeam member Continental Airlines and Associate Airline Copa Airlines have made the business decision to depart SkyTeam this autumn. Alliance members are working closely to ensure the transition is handled in a timely and responsible manner and that minimal changes occur to the standard SkyTeam passenger experience during the transition period.

SkyTeam Signs Preliminary Membership Agreement with Vietnam Airlines

HANOI, April 15, 2009 –SkyTeam and Vietnam Airlines signed a preliminary agreement today confirming the airline’s first step towards full membership into the SkyTeam alliance. The agreement outlines Vietnam Airlines’ intentions to undertake exclusive discussions to become a part of SkyTeam during the year 2010, pending fulfillment of the alliance’s membership requirements. The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, and was attended by Mr. Ho Nghia Dung, Vietnam’s Minister of Transport, senior officials of the government and ministries of Vietnam, as well as leaders of Vietnam Airlines and of SkyTeam, including Mr. Marie-Joseph Malé, managing director of SkyTeam and Mr. Dominique Patry, SkyTeam Steering Committee chairman and vice president of International Affairs and Alliances, Air France.

SkyTeam names Managing Director, Introduces Aircraft Livery

MILAN, April 1, 2009 – SkyTeam today announced new initiatives that include a new alliance organization, a new managing director, a new fare pass, a timeline for the opening of its co-located facility at London Heathrow Terminal 4, and the debut of the first plane with the new alliance livery. The alliance released the news in conjunction with a press briefing in Milan by the SkyTeam Steering Committee following its quarterly meeting. The SkyTeam alliance has a large presence in Milan, with service offered by Alitalia, the only airline to serve all three airports in Milan; Aeroflot, Air France, Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Korean Air.
