ITA Airways is a company totally owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance for the exercise of business in the air transport sector. The airline has been active since November 2020.
ITA Airways combines passenger traffic with cargo and mail transportation using the lower deck of its passenger aircraft. The airline’s Cargo hub is located at Rome Fiumicino Airport, offering a Road Feeder Service across a wide geographical area thanks to the airport’s efficient road network integration.
ITA Airways is building a modern, efficient and more environmentally friendly fleet that uses cutting-edge technology to offer an exceptional customer experience while reducing environmental impact. The airline will initially operate a fleet of 52 aircraft including 7 wide body (Airbus A330) and 45 narrow body (Airbus A320 and A319). In 2022, its fleet will increase by a further 26 aircraft to 78 (+26 from 2021), including 13 wide body (+6 from 2021) and 65 narrow body (+20 from 2021). Starting in 2022, ITA Airways plans to renew its fleet with new generation aircraft that will progressively replace older aircraft. At the end of 2025 the fleet will grow to 105 aircraft (23 wide body and 82 narrow body), of which 70% will be new generation aircraft.
