Korean Air named top cargo airline in 2020 Air Cargo Excellence Awards

Seoul, 24 April 2020 - Korean Air has won the Diamond Award in the cargo airline category of the 2020 Air Cargo Excellence Awards organized by Air Cargo World.

This award is particularly meaningful to Korean Air’s cargo business, which is contributing greatly to the national economy, as it has once again been globally recognized amid many difficulties faced in the domestic industry due to COVID-19.

Korean Air is using passenger aircraft as freighters to increase cargo transportation capacity, which has been greatly reduced due to the suspension of most international passenger flights. It is also participating in the global battle against COVID-19 through the transportation of medical supplies including COVID-19 diagnosis kits.

Air Cargo World, the world’s most prestigious air cargo publication established in 1942,  launched the Air Cargo Excellence Awards in 2005 where it selects and announces the best airlines and airports for air cargo logistics based on the evaluation of shippers and forwarders, the airlines’ customers. Also receiving Air Cargo Excellence Awards in 2015 and 2016, Korean Air has once again proved its excellence in customer service by winning the Diamond Award.

Korean Air has been constantly investing in customer value creation through enhancing services in the cargo sector. In 2019, the airline introduced iCargo, a next-generation cargo system that provides a one-stop service covering everything from reservations, sales, transportation to revenue accounting. The system is highly regarded in terms of customer convenience and enhanced transportation quality.

The airline has also acquired IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators on Pharmaceutical Handling (CEIV Pharma) certification, which certifies an airline’s expertise to manage and transport pharmaceuticals.

Korean Air will continue to provide customers with high-quality air cargo services based on its core principles of speed, safety and accuracy.
