Our Anti-Human Trafficking Declaration

On 1 June, 2025, SkyTeam and its members issued a joint Anti-Human Trafficking Declaration, becoming the first global airline alliance to launch a coordinated initiative to help prevent human trafficking.

The Declaration formalizes SkyTeam’s collective commitment to combating this crime, guided by five core values:

  • Ethical Responsibility – Refusing complicity in exploitation

  • Empathy and Respect – Treating every person with dignity

  • Awareness and Education – Investing in training and raising awareness of human trafficking and its indicators

  • Collaboration and Partnerships – Working with law enforcement, governments, and NGOs

  • Survivor Support – Contributing to recovery and advocacy efforts

How We’re Taking Action

SkyTeam member airlines have been individually pioneering best practices aimed at combatting human trafficking. Now we’re bringing our efforts together and enhancing these initiatives by scaling successful practices across the alliance.

Focus areas include:

  • Raising awareness among passengers and frontline staff

  • Training cabin and ground staff to identify and report suspected trafficking

  • Sharing best practices among member airlines

  • Building partnerships with NGOs, law enforcement, and governments

Our Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative is a continuous effort, not a one-off campaign. Working together across our alliance, SkyTeam is helping to drive change and make air travel safer for all.

Frequently Asked Questions

SkyTeam member airlines have led anti-trafficking efforts for years. Now we act together, building awareness, sharing best practices, and scaling existing efforts across the alliance.

Indications include confusion, signs of mental or physical abuse, coached behavior, missing documents, or inconsistent stories. Training focuses on behavioral cues and safe reporting.

Thanks to alert passengers, many trafficking cases have been identified. We’re also working on ways to empower and inform customers without causing fear or discomfort. If something doesn’t feel right, inform the airline staff.
