SkyTeam to Unveil New Alliance Facility at Barcelona Airport

SkyTeam move completes the Terminal 1 project

BARCELONA, 23 October, 2009 – SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, will unveil its brand new state-of-the-art customer focused facility at Terminal 1 Barcelona El Prat International airport on Sunday 25 October. This is the first time that the alliance has operated out of a common location in Spain and the new facility brings together eight SkyTeam carriers allowing passengers to choose from over 40 nonstop destinations including Paris, Rome, New York and Moscow.

The SkyTeam move to Terminal 1 is the final phase of Aeropuertos Espanoles y Naviegacion Aerea’s (AENA) airport project.

In the new Terminal 1, the SkyTeam partners, namely Aeroméxico, Aeroflot, Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, will share airport services including 28 check-in desks, six SkyTeam self-service kiosks and bag drop-off locations. Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM also have their own co-branded ticket office in the check-in area as part of their joint venture partnership. For premium class, SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus passengers, the member airlines also have three dedicated check-in desks as well as offer access to two airport lounges, Pau Casals and Miro, offering a wide range of facilities.

“The new SkyTeam terminal provides significantly easier flight connections, better facilities at check-in, as well as an extensive flight network to choose from,” says Gordon Humphreys, vice president, airport services, SkyTeam. “The co-location of the SkyTeam carriers is a very important part of the alliance’s future strategy and we will continue to look at other opportunities around the world.”
