SkyTeam’s Istanbul Lounge awarded ‘Safe Tourism Certificate’

Alliance’s stringent health safety measures in lounges recognized by the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency

SkyTeam’s Istanbul Lounge has been awarded a Safe Tourism Certificate by Turkey’s Tourism Promotion and Development Agency in recognition of the alliance’s multi-layered commitment to health safety in its lounges. The SkyTeam Lounge submitted a voluntary application to the program, which is compulsory for hotels of 30 or more rooms, and will undergo regular rigorous inspections in order to renew its certificate each month.

The Safe Travel Certification Program validates the implementation of health and hygiene measures taken by airlines, airports, transportation providers and theme parks, as well as accommodation and food and beverage outlets. Following a multi-criteria inspection, SkyTeam’s Istanbul Lounge was judged to have met the “Assessment Criteria for COVID-19 and Hygiene Measures to be Implemented in the Food and Beverage Facilities during the Pandemic.”

With safety top of mind, SkyTeam has implemented a number of measures to look after the health and wellbeing of guests and employees in its lounges. This includes self-scanning boarding passes and frequent flyer cards for entry, temperature checks, compulsory mask-wearing, rearranged furniture for more space, safer self-service and table service, and regular sanitizing of surfaces and facilities. These steps complement the alliance’s 22 health safety and hygiene measures in place across all 19 member airlines under SkyTeam’s SkyCare&Protect pledge.
