SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, has unveiled its brand new check-in co-located area at Terminal 2 Beijing Capital International Airport. The new facility brings together Air France, Aeroflot, Alitalia, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, KLM and Vietnam Airlines, as part of SkyTeam members’ efforts to collaborate in order to improve customer benefits and deliver a superior SkyTeam experience. This is the first time that SkyTeam, the #1 airline alliance in the Greater China region, has operated out of a common location in China.

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, has launched a new, self-service Round the World Planner for its customers. The user-friendly online application has been designed to allow customers to create their own SkyTeam Round the World itineraries, using the extensive networks of all 14 SkyTeam member airlines.

China Eastern and its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines officially joined the SkyTeam global airline alliance at a ceremony held in Beijing today. SkyTeam alliance members are today celebrating the opening of a new joint ticket office in Terminal 2A at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. To mark the occasion June 2 has been named SkyTeam day by the airport with events including an official opening ceremony and the visit of several alliance liveried aircraft of member airlines.
Aeroflot Russian Airlines has completed preparations for joining the global airline alliance SkyTeam Cargo. The announcement was made today by Oleg Korolev, Cargo Director, during a joining ceremony which was held at the Air Cargo Europe in Munich, Germany. Aeroflot is the ninth airline to join the global air cargo alliance.
SkyTeam has appointed Michael Wisbrun as its new Managing Director, replacing Marie-Joseph Malé effective 1 June 2011. As head of the management team, based in the central office in Amsterdam, Michael Wisbrun will be responsible for implementing the future strategic plan as set forth by the SkyTeam Governing Board.

Middle East Airlines – Air Liban (MEA), the flag carrier of Lebanon, today signed an agreement to join SkyTeam in 2012. MEA will be the alliance’s second member from the Middle East, a strategic growth market for SkyTeam.
